WNTD-2010:
Brief on World No Tobacco Day Activities, 31st

WNTD-2010 was observed in collaboration with RCTC partners,
NCC and State Tobacco
control Cell, following were the key activities
conducted:

Yagna,
Procession, and Signature Campaign: Yagna Procession, demonstration
and Signature campaign was organized at the busiest place in jaipur city 'Badi
Choppar'. About 200 women participated in the yagna organized; Mayor Mrs
Jyoti khandelwal and Atorney general Mr G.S.Bapna participated in the
yagna. The main purpose of the precession is to sensitize local government
for strict enforcement of COTPA.

Mayor Jyoti Khandelwal, Atorney General shri G.S.bapna
signed a commitment for effective enforcement of COTPA.

2. Nukkar Nattak:
Nukkar Nattak was organized by the students of Gyan Vikar university
students in which they tried to sensitize local mass through use of local
dialects and messages.
3. Tobacco Effigy:
Effigy of the tobacco addict was burnt at the program site.
4. Smoke free
medical Directorate: On the occasion the State Directorate of medical
and Health was declared smoke free by director family welfare and director
AIDS by inaugurating Smoke Free boards and starting the signature campaign
in the directorate campus. Exhibition was put up for seven days to give
tobacco control messages of section 4, 5, 6 of COTPA.

Electronic presentations:
tobacco control documentaries were displayed in the corridor of the
Directorate Medical and health. Employees and officials of the state
directorate have shown keen interest in the documentaries and, exhibition
and signature campaign.
NCC cadets have also joined the precession by organizing rally in the wall
city area, NCC cadet s
joined RCTC program. The main attraction of the day:
When the process was going on at badi chopper,
Chief Minister Shri Ashok Gehlot called RCTC members and expressed deep
concern over the low level of implementation of COTPA. He issued direction
to the Chief Secretary to take up the issue on priority.
Program was covered by all media houses and it was the day's highlight in
about one dozed news channels including DD-1, DD-News, E.TV, DIGI TV,
Partika TV, Bhaskar TV.
